Welcome to This Is Cute. We’re Jenna, Jayna, and Verena. We text all day about cute stuff so you don’t have to. If you’re interested in seeing the previous and equally unhinged editions, they’re here.
When a friend of the stack inquired about on-sale outerwear to scoop up right now, we decided to parlay the search into an entire TIC edition because: 1) we take requests incredibly seriously (don’t believe us? comment! DM! email us! we love to lose sleep over a hunt!!) and 2) now is an excellent time to buy very good coats and jackets at fair(er) than usual prices. The markdowns are steep! The overcoats, trenches, barns, and shackets are cute—and a lot of them are spring-y! So, without further ado, our list of (mostly—sorry, Jayna couldn’t help herself) marked-down outerwear to move on.

Coats (Classic or Otherwise)
Amomento Brown Hairy Long Coat ($376, was $895)
Disgusting name, gorgeous coat. It’s modeled on a man but has unisex appeal, just ask Jayna who ordered it approximately 90 seconds after I shared it with the text chain. -JG
Stand Studio Black Saville Coat ($377, was $820)
Maybe it’s because I never have the right jacket to wear over dressy winter looks, but this black tailored overcoat feels like such a responsible purchase. -JG
Snow Xu Gao coats
The under-the-radar, made-in-NYC label’s signature, Cher Horowitz-esque plaid outerwear is all 20% off. -JG
J.Crew Stowe Parka ($195, was $450)
The removable hood means this is basically two coats for the price of one. -VvP
Norma Kamali Belted Padded Shell Coat ($285, was $475)
Someone please snag the last one of this iconic sleeping bag-style from coat queen Norma Kamali and then thank me in November. -VvP
Rodebjer Moma Brushed Jacket ($535.50, was $765)
Sale season is the time to buy a statement coat, like this brushed wool alpaca blend one in a lush, cornflower blue with contrasting black leather collar. (Please disregard the terrible styling on this model.) -VvP
Max Mara Blue Zebra ($3188, was $4490) and Tan Ted Girl ($3346, was $4290)
I’ve always wanted a classic Max Mara teddy coat and there’s no better time to buy one than when it’s on sale. This isn’t the year for me, but it might be for you, in which case I’d be looking at these two from Ssense. -VvP
Trench(ish) Coats
Gap Icon Trench ($134, was $168. Use code GREAT) and Uniqlo Soutien Collar Coat ($79, orig. price not listed)
We love a trench, a.k.a. the ultimate outerwear answer to “what to wear when the weather is Weirdsville." These two are very good and extra appealingly priced. I’d order up a size or two, because I prefer my trench coats to be roomy and robe-like. -JG
Wardrobe NYC Trench Coat ($750, was $1500)
A bit of a splurge, yes, but 50% off on a quintessential trench coat in two utterly timeless hues and a full run of sizes? It’s a sign. -VvP
6397 Washed Overcoat ($540, was $895)
Technically not a trench, but still extremely chic, especially in this jewel-toned navy. The perfect layering coat for Weirdsville Spring, summer nights in cooler climates, and Fake Fall (a.k.a. That run of days in October or November when you need to wear a coat but would prefer not to sweat). -VvP
Barn Jackets

No, it’s not too late to jump on the barn jacket band wagon. You’ll wear one of these puppies starting yesterday, and for years to come. I love these slightly nuanced takes, which include Pixie Market’s swingy, sporty cut in both camel and navy ($135, was $270), a streamlined Cordera Beige Worker Jacket ($428, was $855), this black (gasp) Mango Waxed Effect Short Parka ($150, was $250) and the not on sale but still approachably priced J.Crew Men’s 1983 Heritage Barn Jacket ($178). -JG
Jackets, Shackets, and … Sweater Jackets?
Haikure Orrell Jacket ($215, was $429)
For some reason I have the hardest time with denim jackets. The classic style always hits me in the exact wrong spot and I feel like a tool, so I love that this one is oversized and also padded so it feels a little less structured but still faithful to the original. -JW
The Great Slouchy Denim Jacket ($106, was $425)
Another denim jacket that I’d be willing to try because of the slouch factor! -JW
Interior Remy Jacket ($260, was $650)
I love a denim jacket, and already have too many to count, but love the faded blue loucheness of this guy, which looks like one you might have stolen from your cooler older sister’s closet circa 1996 (speaking from experience). -VvP
No.6 Wilson Jacket in Mint Lilac Plaid ($165, was $390)
Shackets: hate the word, love the concept. No6 has been doing iterations of this Wilson Jacket for a while now, and I always love them—this one has very VVP colors and such a cute contrasting collar. -JW
Howlin’ Bass Lover Sweater Jacket (~$206, was $295)
Not technically a coat (at all) but sooooo cute and looks sturdy and like it could sub in for a coat in early April. Someone please buy it! -JW
And Lastly, A Full-Priced Bonus From … Guess Who.
Toast Patch Pocket Cord Jacket ($340)
Ok, this one isn’t on sale, but it does look like a perfect weird weather layer, and I love the big pockets and overall slouch-city vibe. -JW
